Margaret died at Dosher Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Jackson married Harry Marvin Jackson in 1947, and was a homemaker. Mr. Jackson’s service career with the Veteran’s Administration took them to Richmond, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. They resided in Springfield, VA, for 45 years. Mrs. Jackson is the last survivor of a pastor’s family of eight children. She was a graduate of Bristol Virginia High School and attended Virginia Intermont College of Bristol. The Jackson’s were active in the Kena Temple of Shiners’ in the Washington, DC, area. She was a member of the Chi Sigma Sorority and The First Baptist Church in Springfield, VA. In 2001, she moved to St. James Plantation in Southport and at that time transferred her membership to the Southport Baptist Church where she became active in her Sunday school class, The Bellamy Group, and various other church activities. In St. James, she enjoyed Bible Study on Wednesdays and was an avid Bridge player with her Thursday morning ladies group.
Lovingly, she was known to all as “Aunt Margaret” and touched the lives of so many people. She will be remembered as having a full and active life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to For One Another, Cancer Family Network, PO Box 6446, Bozeman, Montana 59771. For many years, Margaret spent a month each summer to volunteer her time, talents, and money at summer camp. FOA is available to all Montana families who are experiencing a diagnosis of cancer within the household (whether it is the child or adult diagnosed). All events at camp were provided without charge. FOA has grown to help hundreds of families in that state.
