Andrew Robert Jackson y Carrillo was the son of John Eugene Jackson, born Ireland, and María de los Dolores Eduviga Carrillo y Bandini. He was living with his parents and older sister Sharlott at 251 Spring Street, Los Angeles, in 1880 (1880 US Census). After his parents were divorced his mother married Henry Charles Craner in 1893 and he moved with his mother, step-father, and sister Ruth to San Francisco where he later attended Berkeley, graduating in 1896. After meeting Mattie Rose Hollywood in Oakland in 1897, they both went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they were married on May 20, 1898. They then returned to California. He was a chicken farmer living at 1819 Elm Street, Alameda, in 1910 (1910 US Census).
