Desmond Radcliff Jackson Sr., 92, of Lexington, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Mr. Jackson was born June 14, 1913 in Lexington, a son of the late Walter Lee Jackson and Alice Roane Jackson.

He was employed by Peoples National Bank for 44 years, Washington and Lee University for 43 years and the News-Gazette for 70 years.

He loved to travel and had traveled through several countries.

He was a member of the Keystone Lodge #39 for over 50 years. He enjoyed Green Beret Softball for many years.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Merchant Jackson.

Survivors include include two daughters: Alice Roane of Lexington and Margaret Jackson Jenkins of Radcliff, Kentucky; one son, Desmond R. Jackson, Jr. of New Jersey; one stepdaughter, Jamie DeBruhl of East Orange, New Jersey; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and Jamie Jackson of Lexington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Randolph Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Long, Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Randolph Street United Methodist Church, 119 S. Randolph Street, Lexington, Va 24450. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
