Sally Ann Anderson, 84, passed away February 2, 2014 at the University of Kansas Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Robert S. Jackson and Hazel V. (Scott) Jackson. She grew up in Edina- Morningside, MN. Sally graduated in 1949 from the University of Minnesota and from the Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1952. She lived briefly in Arlington, VA, and Pittsburgh, PA, and then moved to Mission, KS in 1957. She returned to nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO, after raising four children. She was a member and past Regent of the Shawnee Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the National Society of Women Descendents of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery. Sally was a member of the Milhaven Garden Club and spent many hours taking care of her gardens as well as a neighborhood island. She was a member of the first class of Master Gardeners in Kansas in 1980. She spent 8 years volunteering with the Extension Service answering gardening hot line questions and appearing at lawn, flower and garden events. Her beautiful gardens were featured in the Mission Magazine in 2010. She was a past member of Toastmasters and was a frequent featured speaker for many of her clubs. She loved researching and speaking on a wide variety of topics. She traveled to all 50 states and around the world to more than thirty countries. Sally was an excellent mother, wife, grandmother, homemaker, volunteer, and was loved by many. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Dr. Charles Albert Anderson, and her four children, Marilyn Miller (Dale) of Edwardsville, IL; Nancy Hoffman (Rick) of Olathe, KS; Charles W. Anderson (Kristi) of Overland Park, KS; and Robert S. Anderson (Sue) of Essex Fells, NJ and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel Jackson, her sister, Marietta Jones and her brother, Robert Scott Jackson. All family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 8 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Country Club at 9101 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, KS. She will have a private burial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
