Elizabeth Esther Barber, 72, New Post, died Sunday, Dec. 11, at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 30, 1921, at Old Post, WI, the daughter of Alex and Annie (Bluesky) James. She attended school at Riverside School and was married to Louis T. Barber, Sr. She had lived at Lac Courte Oreilles all her life and worked with the Green Thumb Program and as a foster grandparent for LCO Headstart. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Louis T. Barber, New Post; two daughters, Julie (George) Taylor, Hayward, and Denise (Willie) Smith, Manawa, WI; three sons, Robert E. Barber, Gaiashkibos (Rita) and Darryl D. Barber, all of New Post; a step-daughter, Rose Burns, Hayward; a step-son, Louis R. "Dick" Barber, Hayward, and Judith Nickence, Minneapolis,MN; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Louis G.; and infant daughter, Mary Lou; one sister, Lillian James; two brothers, Simon James and Bill Mustache; and a granddaughter.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in New Post. Rev. Fr. Gregory Hopefl was the celebrant. Visitation was afte 5 P.M. Tuesday in the New Post Elderly Center. Interment was in New Post Cemetery.

Casket bearers were John and George Bluesky, Ronnie Tainter, Bodie LaRush, Johnnie Boy Corbine, and George Taylor.

Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
