Clara Pond was born in 1900 on the Bad River Reservation in Odanah WI. She was the daughter of William Pond (1864-1928) and Angeline Bellanger (1864-1928). Her siblings were Albert (1894-1905), Mabel (1896-1987), Hattie (1897-1953), Mary (1899-1905), and Jessie (1902-1950). On 4/27/1916 in Gogebic, Michigan, Clara was married to Edward James. They had one son, Joseph Michael James. Clara died from the effects of childbirth on 1/19/1917, two days after the birth of her son.
