She was born Denise Dawn James in Delavan March 8, 1953. In May of 1973, Denise married Robert Dillenbeck and moved to Neillsville, where they raised their two children. Denise obtained her childcare certification and was a teacher's aide for the preschool in Greenwood for many years. She then went on to be a teacher's aide in the Neillsville Elementary School for many years after that. She enjoyed her flowers and garden, was a beautiful cake decorator and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Denise married Mark Nelson in March 2010, and enjoyed their time together in Florida, Delavan and Hortonville.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Nelson, of Hortonville; two children, Robert (Holly) Dillenbeck of Mosinee, Jenifer (Mark) Lezotte of Appleton, and their father Robert Dillenbeck of Neillsville; four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Logan Dillenbeck and Grace and Owen Lezotte; parents Arden and Alyce Reum; and brother Thomas James.
Denise was preceded in death by her father Donald James.
