Mrs. Jellicoe was the wife of Capt. Frederick Gilbert Jellicoe of the 53rd Native Infantry regiment. She died of fever in Wheeler's entrenchment, leaving her husband and two small children. She was a daughter of Rev. Richard Marter, Rector of Brightwaltham, Berkshire.

Mrs. Jellicoe would have been buried in the Sepulchral Well, a water well that was located some 80 yards to the southwest of the Entrenchment. The remains of some 350 men, women and children still rest there.

The Sepulchral Well lies today within a military zone, some 30 yards from one of the old barrack buildings near Cambridge Road. It may be necessary to secure permission from the local military authority before visiting the site and memorial.
