Capt. Jellicoe, of the 53rd Native infantry regiment, is believed to have died in the attack on the boats during the Sati Chowra massacre. His wife Sarah Emily died of fever during the siege on Wheeler's entrenchment, which fate was probably shared by her two toddlers.

Capt. Jellicoe and his family are memorialized in All Saints Memorial Church in Kanpur.
