We regret to announce the passing of Francis Gabriel Joe on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Boston, Mass. On Sept. 22, 1960, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Mary Ellen (Pierro) Joe.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Francis worked in many places, steel work and welding Jobs in Ontario. He also was a past graduate of Patrick's Business College in Sydney as was currently attending Una'ma'ki Education Centre in Eskasoni. He was also a janitor for the Eskasoni Elder Centre.
Francis is survived by his wife of 23 years, June (Smith) Joe; his stepsons, Jose (Donna), Afton, Johnny and Angelo, both of Eskasoni; one stepdaughter, Marian Nicholas, Indian Brook; grandchildren, Savannah, Annie Marie, Joel, Eric; great-granddaughter, Cortisha; brothers, Roddie, Bobby (Linda), both of Eskasoni, Lloyd (Marlene), Guelph, Ont. and John, Fredericton, N.B.; aunt Susie Jane Stevens, Eskasoni; his nieces, nephews and many cousins and his godfather, Noel Joe Gould, Waycobah. Also left behind is his loyal and lovable pet friend Bingo (Baby).
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ricky and Jimmy and by his godmother, Pauline Gould.
The late Francis Joe will be waked at the residence of the home of Viney Sapier, 4686 Shore Rd., Eskasoni on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 after 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
