Anchorage resident Cheryl Anne Henneken, 62, died April 1, 2007, at home with her sister and brother at her side after a long battle with cancer. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 2111 Muldoon Road. A celebration of life and lunch was after the service in the church's gathering area. The Rev. Aloysius "Al" Ezenwata, Chaplain of Providence Alaska Medical Center, officiated.

Cheryl Henneken was born March 26, 1945, in Reno, Nev., to Everett and Rita Johnson. She graduated from 4-C's Business College in Palmdale, Calif., where she studied accounting. Cheryl followed her parents to Nome in the mid '70s, and seven years later moved to Anchorage. She continued her career as comptroller at Eurest Support Services. Her family wrote: "She loved snowmachining, and taking trips to Mexico and Hawaii with her friends. Cheryl and her mother went on several trips throughout Alaska. She also loved reading mystery novels, working on jigsaw puzzles and working on complex needlepoint projects. She entered various dessert recipes and needlepoint projects at the Alaska State fair every year, and won countless blue ribbons. "She will be missed by family and friends in Fairbanks, Nome and Anchorage."

Cheryl is survived by her sister, Martha Purvis of Anderson, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Claudia Johnson of Sacramento, Calif.; niece, Lisa Lent of Fishers, Ind.; nephew, Mark Purvis of Indianapolis; and great-nephew, Noah Lent of Fishers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cheryl's name to Providence Home Health Care, 3546 Latouche Street, Suite 101, Anchorage 99508 or to St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road, Anchorage 99504. Local arrangements were with Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory Memorial at adn.com/obituaries
