In 1950, Mildred and her family moved to Detroit, Michigan. She attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Northwestern High School in 1958. She attended Wayne State University and was later united in holy matrimony with Major Branch.
Mildred continued her spiritual journey at Zion Chapel Church of Christ Holiness, USA and, in later life, she found peace and strength as a dedicated and baptized servant of Jehovah.
Mildred was a kind and generous woman, described by many as having "a heart of gold." She had a strong work ethic and a continuing desire to share with and uplift others. Her working career began as a baby-sitter in her teens. She was blessed to have a 35 year career with the United States Postal Service while managing her own real estate properties.
