Artie Johnson was born October 7, 1940 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, daughter of that late Roscoe and Effie Mae (Gross) Johnson.
She moved to Belleville from Detroit, MI over 30 years ago. She worked for General Motors Cadillac plant for a few years before having her children. After her children were grown, she enjoyed working at the Belleville Meijer Store, for over ten years, as a Greeter and in Loss Prevention. She loved arts and crafts and could make something from nothing. She was the founder of the Wednesday Girls Night Crafts at her home. She loved to paint, sew, crochet and collect antiques.
Artie Bearden was survived by a son Bobby Joe Bearden of Belleville, MI, two daughters Emma Jean (Anthony) Bourk of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Angela Jane Bearden of Belleville, MI, nine grandchildren, also a sister Gladys Jane Mullins of Kentucky.
Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by a son Robert Coleman Bearden on May 16, 1994, her husband Robert Burden Bearden on December 9, 2007, a sister Emily Bearden, also a brother Roscoe Johnson, Jr.
