The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
1st Battalion.

Son of Henry Johnston and Ellen Naomi Johnston , formerly Fraser, of Aldershot, Hampshire.
His birth was registered as Harry Alexander Johnston, at Aldershot, Farnham district, Hampshire

He was a pupil at The Royal Hibernian Military School, Phoenix Park, Dublin.
It is understood that upon completion of his primary education in or about 1897-8, he joined The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

His battalion was sent to France & Belgium in January 1915.
He was killed in action during the second Battle of Ypres (22 April 1915 - 25 May 1915)
It is very probable that he was killed by Chlorine Gas which was used for the first time by the Germans on 22 April 1915.

His name is included on the supplementary list of
