Minnie Jones Dorris, age 86, formerly of Greenbrier, TN passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Sunrise at Five Forks in Lilburn, GA. She was born in Robertson County, Tennessee to Martin Jones and Mary Henrietta Charlton Jones on January 11, 1926. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Eldredge Dorris; brothers, Samuel Jones, George Jones, & James O. Jones, Sr. A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 2 PM with Rev. James O. Jones, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Dorris worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. She was a member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church for over 20 years. She served as a choir member, pianist, & Sunday School teacher. She loved sewing, cross-stitch, gardening in her flower gardens, & Crossword puzzles. She and her husband Eldredge, always had a large vegetable garden and she did all the canning and freezing. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roy & Beverly Dorris, Evansville, IN, Gary & Sharon Dorris, Snellville, GA; 6 grandchildren, Michelle (Rodger) Castle, Thomas Dorris, Carla (Daniel) Jackson, Daniel (Kimberly) Dorris, Brent (Cyndi) Dorris, & Shaunna (Chris) Turner; great grandchildren, Rodger Castle III, Carl Castle, Holly Castle, Cecelia Castle, Cohen Dorris & Martha Turner. Friends may visit with her family on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 4-8pm and on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 12-2pm the time of the service. Final resting place will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, White House, TN with Thomas Dorris, Terry Swann, Daniel Jackson, Daniel Dorris, Brent Dorris, & Chris Turner serving as pallbearers.
