In Memory of...

Mary Jones Amerson died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 peacefully at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11am at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Amerson was born September 9, 1926 in Dooly County, GA to the late Louise Lindsay Jones and Curtis Jones. She graduated from Houston County High School in 1944, and thereafter moved to Macon where she met and married the late Frank C. Amerson, Jr. in 1949. She cherished her family and had a passion for entertaining her friends as well as being a gracious host for many community events. She took great pride in both her gardening and culinary talents, including her favorite pastime of riding her John Deere lawnmower and checking on her nearby family. She considered her greatest role in life to be her role as a wife, and was a true matriarch in every sense of the word. She will be missed tremendously by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Mrs. Amerson was a life member of the suburban garden club, where she won numerous awards for her floral arrangements. Additionally, she was a member of Idle Hour Country Club, Vineville United Methodist Church and the Webb's Sunday school class, and numerous Bridge groups. She was also an active member of the Museum of Arts and Science Guild for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of six-three years, Frank C. Amerson Jr.; brother, George Marion Jones; and sister, Francis Jones Morgan.

Mrs. Amerson is survived by sons, F. Carl Amerson III (Janice) and Steven Amerson; grandchildren, Duke Amerson, Ryan Amerson, Joshua Amerson, Chandler Amerson (Jessica), Alysha Amerson, Traci Johnson (Jeff), Cameron Dennard (Amber); great-grandchildren, Mason Amerson, Bradley Mullis, Morgan Mullis, Kamryn Dennard, Carson Dennard; sisters, Juanita Sledge, Helen Nobles, Inez Taylor; brothers, Marvin Jones, Russell Jones (Linda), and Dennis Jones (Brenda).

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon, 31204 or First Presbyterian Day School, 5671 Calvin Drive, Macon, 31210.
