Mary Rosetta Jones Allen, 82, of Berryville, Virginia, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Allen was born July 16, 1931 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Edward R. Jones and Josephine Berry Jones.
She was a domestic worker. She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Social Workers Club, Usher Board, and Mothers of the Church.
She married Joseph W. Allen on April 24, 1965 in Berryville, Virginia. Mr. Allen died on July 10, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Mason and Shirley Jones, both of Berryville, VA; two sons, Anthony Jones of Sterling, VA and Dennis Jones of Glenn Dale, MD; four brothers, George F. Jones of Berryville, VA, Chester Jones and William Jones, both of Charles Town, WV, and Paul Jones of Mt. Rainer, MD; three sisters, Christine Bailey and Amelia Stevenson, both of Berryville, VA, and Barbara Johnson, of Landover, MD; adopted son, David Jones of Miami, FL; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Brothers, Charles Jones and Samuel Jones, and sisters, Lydia Harrison and Linda Meekins, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville with Rev. George Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Franklintown, WV.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
