She is survived by one son, Lee Burrus of Arenzville; one sister, Ruth (husband, Kenneth) Dobbe of Pleasant Plaines, one brother, Floyd (wife, Lois) Jurgens of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alberta Balster, Louise Himmel, and Elizabeth Foste.
Mrs. Burrus was a graduate of Virginia High School and graduated from Passavant Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She received specialized training in children's care in Milwaukee and training in emergency room nursing and surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Schmitt Hospital in Beardstown prior to her marriage. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Chapin, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle and L.W.M.L.
Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Springfield, Illinois.
