Robin Grace Travis was born on August 28, 1958, in Sacramento, California. She weighed 7 lbs, 1 oz. I can imagine that the first thing she did was smile and opened those big beautiful eyes, and stated hello world, here I am to change your life forever! And that is what she did – she changed the lives of everyone she met and touched. The day Robin was born we received a special gift sent right from heaven!
Robin attended Fern-Greenwood Elementary School from the 1st grade through the 8th grade. It was at Fern-Greenwood Elementary where Robin met some of her dearest and closest friends – many turned into lifetime friends. So many people were changed by just knowing Robin. Robin attended Torrance High School her freshman year. I had the opportunity to get to know Robin and we were instantly friends! Robin was also active on the Torrance Swim Team and synchronized swimming.
Robin went on to attend Quartz Hill High School her sophomore through senior year where she was a member of the QHHS Swim Team and graduated in 1976. She went on to attend the College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita) and was a Cheerleader. Robin received her RN degree from Santa Barbara City College.
On June 18, 1983, Robin married Abdul Kassir and they had three great children: Son, Korey - born in 1987; Daughter, Kayla - born in 1988 and Daughter, Kelly – born in 1992.
Robin lived the last 12 years in San Clemente, California, actively raising her children. She was diagnosed with cancer in January 2007 and she battled it bravely for over three years. Robin passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Robin's legacy lives on through her three loving and devoted children.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the following location:
