Florence Kaufman Harris was born June 19, 1892. Was converted in revival services held at the Friends church at New Holland, Indiana, and united with the church at that time. She moved from Wabash, Indiana, to Newberg in 1905 and was received by letter into the Friends church August 7, 1907. She was active in Christian work until her last illness.
She graduated from Pacific College in June, 1915. After two years of successful teaching at Friends Academy, Greenleaf, Idaho. She was married to Carl W. Harris of Melba, Idaho. November 14, 1917, where she resided until her last illness.
She departed this life at 2 a. m. September 27, aged 27 years, 3 months and 8 days. She leaves mourning behind her husband, Carl Harris, her parents, Madison and Hulda Kaufman, a sister Mrs. Lola Haworth, two brothers, Riley and Addison Kaufman and many relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held in the Friends church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock and was conducted by Jesse and Mary E. K. Edwards. Six young men who were formerly members of Mrs. Harris Sunday school class acted as pall bearers. Floral offerings were especially large and beautiful.
