Norfolk, Neb.--Kathleen Kavanagh Bocek, 47, of Norfolk, Nebraska, formerly of Pittsburg, Kansas, died December 27, 2008.
Kathleen was born August 9, 1961 to Thomas and Cleo (Bradshaw) Kavanagh. They preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Pittsburg High School, attending Pittsburg State University and graduating from the University of Wisconson with a bachelor of arts in social work.
She is survived by husband, James Bocek, children Aaron and Kaitlyn Wilson, St. Louis, Missouri, Jeremy Grieger, Washington D. C., brother Peter Kavanagh, Dallas, Texas, Vonnie Kavanagh, Pittsburg, Kansas, granddaughter Zoe Grieger, two nephews, Eddie Ellis of Pittsburgh and Glen Kavanagh of Washington D. C., and two neices, Sarah Ellis and Kerri Ellis of Pittsburg.
Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, followed by the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held following Mass at St. Mary's-Colgan Commons.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Crawford County Mental Health Adult Services, 909 E Centennial, Pittsburg, Kansas, 66762.

Kathleen was the daughter of Robert W. Smith and Margaret Lewis and was adopted at birth by the Kavanagh's.
