Violet Anne (Kaye) Braley 78, of 15 Bradley Street died at 1:25 PM yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital where she had been a patient four days. Death following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Braley, widow of Edwin Braley was born in New Bedford on June 11, 1897 a daughter of the late John and Mary (Owen) Kaye. For many years she was employed in a New Bedford department store and after her retirement made her home with her daughter Mrs. Joseph Jordan in North Adams for the past 6 1/2 years. She was a member of Omega Lodge of Odd Ladies, New Bedford. Her husband died in 1948.
The funeral will be held at the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street New Bedford, Saturday at 10:30 am with the rector of Grace Episcopal Church officiating, Burial will follow in Tabor Cemetery in Acushnet.
Calling hours at the funeral home are from 2-4 and 7-9 PM tomorrow. The Simmons Funeral Home of North Adams was in charge of local arrangements and transferred the body today to the New Bedford funeral home.
