She was born on June 12, 1932 in Somerville, Massachusetts, a daughter of Donald Alan and Helen Constance Smith Kaye. She attended school in Malden, Massachusetts and Boston University.
She married Edward Leo Carr on June 16, 1951 and she remained faithfully devoted to her husband until his death in 1999.
Mrs. Carr was very active in her community. She was a member of the St. John's Women's Council, the Ladies Auxiliary 832, a fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, taught catechism, , and hosted CYO Meetings at her home as well as helped run the Baby Closet.
She was very caring and attentive to her family. She was a caregiver to her husband, her mother, father, and other family members during their illnesses.
She worked for Union Mutual and later as a secretary at St. John the Evangelist Church from where she retired.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Leo Carr.
She is survived by her daughter, Lee Sweet and her husband Donald of South Portland; her sons, Kevin Carr of Portland, and Sean Carr and his wife Sue of Raymond; her sister, Lynne Haggerty and her husband Dennis of California; seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, October 3 at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Saturday, October 4 at St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of Main St and Aspen Ave, South Portland. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
