Bernice was born to Julius Albert and Eleanore J. (Bucher) Kelch. She married Charles Leonard Chance Sr. on July 30, 1938, in Peoria. He passed away on Dec. 30, 1981.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Herbert, Robert and Albert Kelch; and son-in-law, Ronald Casson.

Bernice is survived by five children, Donna Chance, Carolyn Casson, Charles (Lani) Chance Jr., Stephen (Dorothy) Chance and Michael (Barbara) Chance Sr.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Emeline Schurter, Delores McNaghten, Patricia Thompson and Barbara (Mike) Heinemann.

Bernice was a homemaker.
