Miriam Genora Gilbertson, 69, Bismarck, died at home unexpectedly of natural causes on January 7, 2016.

Miriam was born on October 23, 1946, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Reverend A.L.C and Margaret (Brady) Keller. They moved to Bismarck, where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1964. She attended Valley City State University and later achieved her teaching degree from the University of Mary.

Miriam married Dennis Boyd on August 30, 1966, at Faith Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Out of their 20-year union, they had three children, Michael, Kristin, and Taya.

In 1996, she started a new chapter in life when she married Steve Gilbertson. They enjoyed traveling with Rick and Lois Fryhling, especially to the Fryhling cabin in Detroit Lakes, spending time at various casinos, and going to movies together.

Miriam lived life to the fullest. She was a caring, loving, always there for you; one of a kind; mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, and most proudly, grandmother/great-grandmother. She loved going on walks and out for lunch with friends, especially when she got an entire day with her “bestie” Alva. She loved traveling, most recently on a trip to Hawaii with her life-long friend Lois; to Wendover, NV, with her sister-in-law Donna Becker; and she always looked forward to her trips to Colorado to spend time with her sister Dianne.

Above all, her greatest pride and enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Miriam and Steve spent most of their time over the years watching all their grandchildren play a variety of sports. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and their various accomplishments in life.

Miriam was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her husband, Steve; her son, Mike and wife Mary; her daughters, Kristin and husband Cory Chorne, Taya and husband Chris Fosland, Danielle and husband Aaron Mcking, and Anne and husband Frank Artavia; her 15 grandchildren, Tyler, Alexa, Kascaundra, Chase, Tanner, Zane, Tjaden, Drew, Ethan, Noah, Alek, Abby, Ariella, Gabriel, and Julianna; her two great-grandchildren, Keiera and Kyeri, and the third great-grandchild on the way. Miriam has one living sister, Diane (John) Burdekin; sisters-in-law, Judie Keller and Donna Becker; many nieces and nephews; and very dear friends, Bob and JoAnne Lynne, Bill and Alva Townsend, and Lois Fryhling.
