Lena Grossman, 92, of Harvey, ND, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey.
Funeral mass will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey on Monday August 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Prayer services will be held at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.
Lena was born on May 25, 1918 on the family farm near Wellsburg, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Rosena (Leismeister) Keller. As a young child, Lena grew up and attended rural school near Wellsburg.
Lena married Frank Grossman on October 30, 1939 in Selz, ND. They farmed in the Selz area until 1948 when they moved into Harvey. Lena worked for Kirton's Café until 1971 then started at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home as a nurse's assistant and retired in 1990. Frank died on July 1, 1971.
Lena was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and its Altar Society, VFW and St. Aloisius Hospital Auxiliary's all of Harvey.
Lena is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene (Chuck) Axtman of Jamestown, Diane (Jerry) Kuntz of Pensacola, Florida; daughter-in-law, Carol Grossman of Everett, WA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, John F. Keller of Harvey; sister, Julia Boelke, Carrington.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank, son, Marvin; brothers, Adam, Wendelin, Frank, Joe, and Casper; sisters, Catherine Richter, Ann Goldade, Rose Schmitz.
