Jessie E. Alexander, 97, of 900 East Jefferson Street, Macomb, passed away at 6:22 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on February 2, 1911 in Schuyler County, Illinois to William David and Ella Mae Steadman Kelly. She married John Alexander on December 25, 1926. He passed away on May 8, 1984.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald; four sisters; one brother and one daughter-in-law, JoAnne Alexander.
Jessie is survived by four sons, John (Zola) of Macomb, Joe of Davenport, Iowa, Charles (Connie) of Aledo and Wayne (Laura Jane) of Cooperstown, New York; two daughters, Frances (Leon) Davis of Macomb and Mary Andersen of Macomb; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Alexander of Monmouth.
She lived most of her life in Industry before moving to Monmouth and then to Macomb in 1982. She worked for Form-Fit in Monmouth for several years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Macomb and was a former member of the Grandmothers Club and War Mothers Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Steve Workman officiating. Burial will be in the Industry Cemetery in Industry.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m Sunday evening at the funeral home.
