Margaret L. Anderson, age 92 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Born August 25, 1917 in Joliet, Illinois, Margaret was a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence Waggoner-Kelly. She was raised and educated in the Joliet, Ritchie, Wilmington and Braidwood area, and graduated from Reed Custer High School with the class of 1935. On February 3, 1937, Margaret married James Paul Anderson in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and together they lived their entire married life in Coal City. Margaret worked at Atlas Wallpaper Company, Joliet Arsenal (APSA) as a procurement clerk and also as a realtor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, taking care of others and playing cards, especially poker.
Survivors include her daughter: Pat (the late Richard) Planeta of Coal City; five grandchildren: Karyn (Tim O'Hara) of Seattle; Michael Planeta and David Planeta, both of Coal City; Amy (Chris) Barry of Minnesota; Cherie (Kevin) Berggren of Oklahoma and Katie Anderson of Chicago; nine great-grandchildren; one brother: Edward Kelly of Joliet; one sister Florence Kennedy of Braceville and special extended family: Tara Robinson and her children Austin and Alexis of Joliet and Suzanne Skole of Custer Park, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; spouse James Anderson in September 2003; son David James Anderson in September of 2009; three brothers: Donald, Robert, and Roy Kelly; four sisters: Jean Kelly, Hariett Marcotte, Florence Cushing and Leila Vilt; and one son-in-law: Richard Planeta.
Funeral services: Assumuption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mass of Christian Burial, Reverend Robert Noesen officiate.
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
