KEROUAC, Dorothy A. – of Lapeer, age 92, passed away November 2, 2014 at Suncrest in Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; The Reverend Susan Mozena officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer County Medical Care Facility – Suncrest, 1455 Suncrest Dr., Lapeer, MI 48446.
Dorothy was born in Detroit, MI on November 3, 1921, daughter of the late Christopher and Theresa (Miller) Birk. She married Donald Train on May 26, 1945 in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death in February of 1969. She married Henry M. Kerouac in 1971 in Las Vegas, NV and he preceded her in death in March of 1984. Dorothy was a teacher’s aide at Elmer Knopf Learning Center. She loved to read, travel and shop and was very close to her grandson, Joseph.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David (Janice) Train; daughters, Kathleen Train (Jay Bonnell), Lois (Gino) Pastori; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice McAvinchey; sister, Kathleen (Bernard) Hitchcock; brother, Christopher (Virginia) Birk.
