EVELYN M. ADAMS, age 80, of Delaware passed away at home, September 3, 2013 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Sunbury on October 18, 1932 to the Grover and Clara (Shannon) Keys. Evelyn graduated from Elm Valley High School in 1951. Throughout her younger years she was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church.
In 1952 she married her husband of 60 years Charles W. Adams. Together they raised a family, worked their family farm and shared in its bounty and at times heartache.
She enjoyed the outside and keeping the farm in perfect appearance. One never with idle hands, she was at her best when she was busy at work. A skilled quilter, she was strong willed and at times feisty. She was at her best in the garden as expressed by her family, "she grew it all and canned it all". She also participated in the Delaware County Fair in several events and in 1997 was the Ohio State Fair Corn Husking Champion.
Evelyn treasured time with her family, teaching her grandchildren the skills of homemaking and farming, just as she did her children.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband Charles, children David (Karen) Adams of Ashley, Jeffery (Deborah) Adams of Aurora, Colorado, Rhonda (Rob) Penrod of Delaware, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Also preceded in death by brothers Leonard and Cliff Keys, sisters Virgie Fisher, Mary Martin, Grace Hines, Kathryn Sark.
Friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 1-4 on Saturday at the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, 5591 St Rt 521, Kilbourne, Ohio, 43032. Private inurnment will take place in Green Mound Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Ohio Health Hospice marked for Delaware County, 800 McConnell Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43214 or Kilbourne United Methodist Church.
