MUNCIE--Dorothy M. Abercrombie, 85, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born December 27, 1926 in Muncie and attended Muncie Central High School. Dorothy worked for the Ball Brothers Corporation and Silver Plate until she became a home maker once she married William Abercrombie in October 1945. She was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church, enjoyed painting and watching the Pacers and was also a member of the Order of Beaucuant. Above all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Heaton; her husband, William Abercrombie; her son, Michael Abercrombie; one great-grandson, Conner Haughn; and a sister, Betty Davis.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Mark Ellcessor officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
