Former Schoolteacher Mrs. H. C. Eason Dies

Ray Kitchings Eason, a former Charleston schoolteacher and widow of Herbert C. Eason, died Monday in a local nursing center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Eason was born Dec. 22, 1895, in White Pond, a daughter of William Preston Kitchings and Myra Hutson Kitchings. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and Winthrop College and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Buist M. Fanning, Jr. and Mrs. Brooks W. Kittles, both of Charleston; four sons, Herbert C. Eason, Jr., David W. Eason, and Hugh K. Eason, all of Charleston and the Rev. Robert H. Eason of Hampton, Va.; 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
