Dorothy C. Crook, nee Klingler, 91, of Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 6, 1919, in Hecker, Ill., died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at St. Paul's Home, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Crook was a cook at St. Mary's Grade School for many years until her retirement. She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., and was active in the Ladies Sodality and Mother's Club. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1028 Ladies Auxiliary, the Daughters of Isabella, Belleville Circle 329, and the Belleville Senior Citizens Club.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Louis T. Crook, whom she married on Aug. 19, 1940, and who died Feb. 9, 1973; her parents, Joseph and Frances, nee Wachtel, Klingler; two brothers, Herbert and Irwin (Rosemary) Klingler; her son, James L. Crook; and twin infant grandsons.

Surviving are her daughter, Judith (James) Richards of Antioch, Ill.; her son, Jay A. Crook of Lincoln, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Lisbeth (Michael) Cattafesta of South Riding, Va., Todd (Victoria) Crook of Glen Carbon, Ill., Thomas L. Kapfer of Washington D.C., Kathryn (Michael) Rash of Mt. Airy, Md., Tarah (Eric Peery) Crook of Granite City, Ill., Solomon Smith of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Anna Smith of Boulder, Colo.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Charlotte) Klingler of University City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Klingler of O'Fallon, Ill.; and many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Paul's Home of Belleville for the wonderful care extended to Dorothy.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. Daughters of Isabella Circle 329 will hold a ritual at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 10:40 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Monsignor William McGhee officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
