Fred A. Knapp, 47, Dies

Fred Albert Knapp, 47, of 2811 S. Baltimore Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital at 9:15 a.m. Monday.
A relay driver for the Chicago Daily News here, Mr. Knapp had been in ill health for several years. Death was apparently caused by a heart attack.

A lifelong resident of Decatur, he was born here on April 10, 1919, the son of Benjamin F. and Margaret Russell Knapp.

After service in the Army Medical Corps during World War II he was married here on June 13, 1945, to Mary Rose Krause, who survives.

Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Knapp, Fillmore; two sons, Fred Jr., at home, and Benjamin F., in the Navy; two daughters, Mary Margaret and Rose Ann, both at home; a brother, Benjamin F. Knapp Jr., Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. John (Frankie Eileen) Tipsword, Decatur; Mrs. John (Frances) Beneze, Decatur, and Mrs. Mary Jane Green, Torrence, Wyo.; four stepsons, Robert L. Foster, Decatur; Ivan Foster, Springfield; William Foster, Decatur, and Cleo Foster, Wichita, Kans., and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frank Cates, Springfield.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.
