Mrs C. R. Danforth, a resident of Minonk and vicinity during most of her life, died last Thursday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs George E. Robinson, at Lebanon, NH, with whom she had been living for several years.

The body was brought to Minonk and short services were held Monday afternoon at Minonk cemetery, with Rev Paul Buchmueller in charge. Pallbearers were Edward Meierhofer, Lloyd N. Memmen, R. E. Gray, T. B. Stimpert, E. J. Henderson and F. S. Wylie.

Elizabeth Knapp, daughter of Jacob and Philippine Knapp, was born in Clayton township on January 12, 1862. She was married on January 29, 1885, to Charles R. Danforth, for years a banker in Minonk and a man to whom all central Illinois was devoted.

Two children blessed this happy home, John C. Danforth, now president of the Minonk State bank, and Mrs George E. Robinson of Lebanon, NH. There are two grandchildren, Marion E. and Priscilla J. Danforth. Mrs Danforth lived here during most of her life, going to New Hampshire, some years ago to live with her daughter. She spent her winters in Florida.

Mrs Danforth is not alone remembered devotedly because of her husband, a banker here for many years who drew the love and high esteem of all, and who passed away eleven years ago, but by her own pleasing personality. Always pleasant, ever in the foreground for the betterment of the community; kind, thoughtful, pleasant, she was always. In her life there was neither caste nor class. The love and deep respect which she drew, was wide-spread. She belonged to the clubs of Minonk that aspire to higher things and she was active in all branches of community activity. It seems a waste of words to praise such a woman.
