A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday for Laura C. Janosko of Sharon. She passed away peacefully of natural causes at 10:35 a.m. Thursday (8-21-14) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 84.
Mrs. Janosko was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Sharon, one of five children born to Clarence and Hilda Milligan Knowles.

A lifelong city resident and a member of Sharon High School’s graduating class of 1948, she earned her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and teacher’s certification from Youngstown State University.

She retired in 1986 from Our Lady of Fatima-Monsignor Geno Monti School, Farrell, where she was an English teacher for 15 years.

As an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, she belonged to the Women’s Guild, funeral catering group and served as a Eucharistic minister.

Along with her husband and family, Laura cherished the time spent at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, and Bayshore-on-the Lake in Pymatuning. They also enjoyed traveling to other destinations including Niagara Falls, Florida, and Allegheny National Forest.

Laura was an avid reader and in her earlier years loved to golf.

She enjoyed making candy and baking; Laura will be remembered for her delicious cinnamon rolls she shared with family and friends.

Her husband of 60 years, John E. Janosko, whom she married Feb. 11, 1950, passed away April 27, 2010.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Hoagland; and two brothers, Richard “Dick” Knowles and James Knowles.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
