EAST PEORIA - Hattie Mae Brown, 78, of 123 Michael Court died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born April 9, 1920, in York, Ala., to Villmous and Emma Johnson Knox, she married Robert P. Brown on Aug. 12, 1967, in Peoria. He died Aug. 10, 1997, in Peoria.

She also was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Surviving are one son, Scotty of East Peoria; three grandchildren; five brothers, Willie Knox of Peoria, L.T. Knox of Cleveland, Sam Knox and Vill Knox, both of Detroit, and Joe Knox of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Mrs. Moses (Mattie) Grant and Mrs. J.B. (Carrie) Johnson, both of Cleveland, and Catherine Larkin of Detroit.

She worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 40 years.

A member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and its Deaconess Board, she was a member and former president of the Missionary Society. She also was a Sunday school teacher and a former member of the choir.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
