Bessie Baker

Bessie J. Baker, the daughter of August and Ida Belle (Neel) Kraus, was born November 19, 1898, in Scotland County, Mo., and died Wednesday, February 1, 1989, in a Memphis, Mo., hospital at the age of 91 years.

She married Harvey Sallee February 7, 1917. He preceded her in death August 8, 1952.

She married Francis Edward Baker December 18, 1954, at Edina, Mo. He survives. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Paul (Donna) Jones, Edina, Mo., and Mrs. Paul (Darlene) Gunnell, Downing; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Hallie) Huckey, Gorin, Mo.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Flo Edlen and Grace M. Davis; and two brothers, James D. Kraus and Roy J. Kraus.

Mrs. Baker was a life-long resident of Knox and Scotland Counties. She was a member of Willing Workers Club and Rutledge Christian Church.

Services for Mrs. Baker were held Saturday, February 4, 1989, in Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina, Mo., with the Rev. Leon Buford officiating.

Bearers were Lee Chancellor, Delbert Huckey, Delbert S. Golden, Ernest Riney, Billie Dale, and Joe Neese Jr.

Interment was in Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, Mo.
