Velma was born in Parsons, Kansas on June 3, 1915, the daughter of Fredrick Hermann and Ida Mamie (Trogle) Kreger. She graduated from Parsons High School and the Parsons Business College.
She worked as an office manager for Union Gas and later for Dr. Ralph Sumner.
Velma was united in marriage to George William Bolander on February 26, 1938 in Parsons. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, the Tuesday Study Club and the BPW.
Velma is survived by a daughter, B. Hill of St. Louis, MO; a granddaughter, V, Feik of St. Louis, MO; and two grandsons, D. Simon and J. Feik.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Fredonia Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas.
Memorials in her name may be made to the First Christian Church of Fredonia and may be left with the funeral home.
