Florence E. Kreger, 83, of Effort, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Roland W. Kreger.

Born in Effort, she was the daughter of the late Renie V. and Elsie (Parks) Kresge. A practical nurse, she had operated Kresge's Convalescent Home, the nursing home her mother owned, in Gilbert for 44 years. Later she had worked at Maple Run Manor in Saylorsburg and then had done private duty nursing until retiring in 2005. She was also a very active member of the Effort United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Costenbader and her husband, Clair, of Effort; two sisters, Rena Baumgartner and her husband, William, of Kunkletown and Esther Temple of Saylorsburg; two grandchildren, Debra Lambert and her husband, Paul, of Florida and Kevin Costenbader and his wife, Robin, of Kunkletown; four great-grandchildren: Heather, Yvonne, Michael and Kelli; and a great-great-grandchild, Autumn.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Granville Kresge; and a sister, Shirley Kresge.
