Janice B. Kroc of Barrett, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Barrett Care Center at the age of 74 years.
Janice Bernice was born to Ruth Heidman in Duluth, Minnesota on August 6, 1942. She was raised in the Catholic Faith and attended school in Duluth.
Janice married young and began raising their four children, Teresa, Angie, Tony and Mike.
Janice married Rodger Sorum in the Twin Cities, and then relocated to Morris where Rodger owned Klinker Construction. Janice was bookkeeper for various companies in the area. Rodger passed away in 1985.
At age of 27, she received her diploma. When she turned 50 Janice, along with her daughter, Teresa attended Alexandria Tech for LPN training, and Janice later went to RN school in Willmar, MN. She worked at the Willmar State Hospital until her retirement.
In 1988 Janice was united in marriage to David Kroc whom she loved so much she married him twice! The couple owned and operated a resort and campground on Lake Scandi. Following their retirement they moved to Barrett Lake and enjoyed hosting family get togethers at the Holiday Inn. And spending their winters in Arizona. David passed away in 2015.
Janice enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, writing, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She loved being a wife, mom, grandmother and GiGi.
Janice is survived by her children, Angie (Merlyn) Schwartz of Donnelly, MN, Mike Sorum of Detroit Lakes, MN, Tony (Wanda) Sorum of Erskine, MN ; sister, Peggy White of Chandler, AZ; brother, Tim (Donna) Peterson of Circle Pines, MN; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Danny (Mandy) Kroc of Eden Prairie, Denise Kroc of St. Louis Park, and Kayanne Kroc of Minneapolis.
Janice is preceded in death by her mom, Ruth Peterson; daughter, Teresa; spouses, Rodger Sorum and David Kroc, and sister, Kathy Krammer.
Memorial Service: 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake, with a memorial gathering one hour prior tot he service.
Interment: Summit Cemetery, Morris, MN
