Eltheda J. "Betty" Barrick, 81, of Delaware Street, Lexington, and formerly of Walnut Drive North, Mansfield, died Tuesday morning July 6, 2004 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

She was born June 10, 1923 in Chesterville to George and Flossie (Fidler) Kunze, and was graduated from Chesterville High School.

A homemaker, Betty married Franklin Delano "Del" Barrick on November 16, 1941. They had lived in the Chicago area, and returned to Mount Gilead until 1962, when his job transferred the family to Holden, Massachusetts. They returned to the Mansfield area in 1972.

Betty was a member of First Congregational Church, Mansfield, and formerly served as treasurer of the Women's Fellowship.

She was a 60-year member, and Past Worthy Matron of Evelyn Chapter #146 Order of Eastern Star, Chesterville, and had served as a volunteer for more than ten years at Lexington Court Care Center.

An avid flower gardener, Betty remained active by bowling.

She is survived by her children Dick and Kathy Barrick of Arlington, Margaret Ebert of Lexington, Kentucky, and Rob F. and Jenny Barrick of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law Geneva Brown of Mount Gilead, Evadene Kunze of Columbus, Doris and John Hoffman of Marion, and Isabelle Noble of Chesterville; a brother and sister-in-law Ralph and June Kunze of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband "Del" on March 26, 1988; her stepmother Ethel (Crouch) Kunze; her brother and sister-in-law Paul and Frances Kunze; and two brothers-in-law Forrest Noble and Lester Brown.
