Widow of James Alfred LaPratt died early Sunday morning, June 2, 1996 at Caro Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was 77. Anna C. Yens was born August 2, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry and Mary Yens, coming to Tuscola County with her parents as a young girl and living here since. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and had been employed at Hills & Dales Hospital in Casa City for about 10 years prior to her retirement. She and her husband had owned and operated their farm on French Road in Almer Twp. for many years. She was married to James Alfred LaPratt on February 8, 1944. He predeceased her on October 1, 1969. Survivors
include two children and their spouses, Mary and Charles Butcher of Caro and James C. and Diane LaPratt of Unionville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Larry Weisenbach of Sebewaing, Duane and Jennifer LaPratt of Akron, Jon and Robin Butcher of Fairgrove and Kimberly Butcher of Saginaw; three brothers, Alex Yens of Kingston, Carl Yens of Silverwood, Fred Young of Cass City; two sisters, Elizabeth Jacques of Mount Clemens, Millie Nowakowski of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Henry and Casper Yens and Sophia Watson and Christina Ross. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), June 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with the Rev. David E. Hollender officiating. Burial will be in the Almer Twp. Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the
charity of choice. The family was assisted with these funeral arrangements by the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro.
