Ella was the daughter of Chester and Tharessa Curtis Norton of New York and Ohio. She married James LaFarre on 17 January 1863 in Wood County,and they had 7 children with 5 surviving including: Lloyd Weller, Ernie, Maud Alice, Kate, Daisy, Winfred E., and James Rex. Ella died from pneumonia and a stroke at the age of 6 days past her seventy-eighth birthday.
