Wilma Carnell Harris, 80, of Axton, died July 11, 2001, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Stokes County, N.C., daughter of the late Roy Franklin Lankford and the late Verta B. Cardwell. Also preceding her in death were her husband of 61 years, Edward Livingston (Leonard) Harris on April 29, 2001; her step-mother, Bertha Fulcher; and three brothers, Marvin, R.G. and Walt Lankford.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean Gardner, Virginia H. Lewis and Patricia Bowers; a son, Edward Leroy Harris; a god-son whom she reared, Lewis Lankford; a brother, Willie Franklin Lankford; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Stegall-Harris cemetery in Axton.
