Anne Lankford Brooks, 78, of Chesterfield passed away on June 1, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Bernice Duke Lankford. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, George R.C. Brooks Jr., a grandson, William Congdon Brooks Jr., and a brother, Alva Lankford. She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, Chesterfield. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Horbal and husband, Joseph of Midlothian; a son, William (Billy) Brooks and wife, Vickie of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Barry Horbal, Lauren Horbal, Amanda Chaffin, Adam Brooks, Caroline Mileouski, and Matthew Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester with Pastor David Crisp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (tonight) in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hanover Evangelical Friends Church, 6420 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, Virginia 23111.
