ROY-- Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on March 8, 2009 of congenital heart disease while surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born November 13, 1919 in View, ID to James and Carla Thestesen Larsen.

He was raised and educated in Ogden, UT graduating from Ogden High School and attended Weber State. Jim played basketball all through his school years.

Jim served in WWII South Pacific 41st Infantry division. He was wounded in action on May 18, 1944 and was awarded two bronze stars and a purple heart. He was honorably discharged on January 17, 1945. After the service he worked at the Small Arms Arsenal where he met Kerma Talbot. They were married on June 24, 1945 and later sealed in the Hawaiian Temple.

He started in construction and became a general contractor where he was involved in residential and commercial construction. After many years in construction, he became involved with Roy Water Conservation where he loved the people and work.

Jim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings and served faithfully.

Jim & Kerma had four children: Carla (Larry) Burnett, Hawaii; Leonard (Jo) Larsen, Layton; Mason (Alex) Larsen, Salt Lake; Kandy (Kevin) Lopshire, So. Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother, five sisters and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Burnett.

The family would like to thank Dr. Diehl, Dr. Kelsen and the staff of Crestwood Care Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roy 13th LDS Ward Chapel, 5127 South 2400 West in Roy. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West and on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Primary Children's Hospital in memory of the great care given to Taylor Burnett or to a charity of your choice.
