Madeleine Teresa LeJeune Bernauer, 63, of Lake Charles, LA died at 1:44 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in her residence.
Mrs. Bernauer was born October 15, 1950 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to Richard, LA as an infant. She was a 1968 graduate of Church Point High School, attended Louisiana State University, and graduated from Texas Women's University School of Nursing. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX and Grand Prairie Hospital in Grand Prairie, TX. Mrs. Bernauer moved to Lake Charles in 1979 and was a member of the Junior League of Southwest Louisiana and the Krewe de la Famille. She enjoyed traveling and previously served as a missionary in Nicaragua.
Mrs. Bernauer is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, R. Dale Bernauer, M.D.; daughter, Christy Bernauer of Bozeman, MT; son, Robert Dale Bernauer, Jr., M.D. and wife Sasha of Lake Charles, LA; mother, Celida Guillory and husband Robert of Church Point, LA; sister, JoAnn Colligan of Lake Charles; brother, Learlin LeJeune, Jr. and wife Vicki of Richard, LA; and granddaughter, Avery Marie Bernauer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Learlin LeJeune.
A gathering to celebrate Madeleine's life will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at the Evergreen Room of the Clubhouse at Gray Plantation on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
