Pearl Ilene "Pat" Auten, 90, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007, at her home.
She was born July 29, 1917, in Viborg, S.D., to Louie and Johanna Levison who preceded her in death. She attended Madison Sanitarium and Hospital Nursing School in Nashville and Cincinnati General Hospital in Ohio for her nursing degree.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 67 years, Dr. Donald Thomas Auten; her brother, Lloyd Levison; and her sister, Lola Levison.
She is survived by her children, Phillip and Sue Newman, of Cleveland, Richard and Emily Auten, of Ooltewah, Dr. Allen and Candy Anderson, of Nashville. Her grandchildren, Dr. J. and Jane Newman, of Chattanooga, Phillip and Amy Harris, of Ooltewah, Alan and Kelly Smith, of Cleveland, Dr. Charles and Paige McBrayer, of Chattanooga, Chris and Jennie Sumrell, of Signal Mountain, Thomas and Gina Auten, of Ooltewah, Elizabeth Patricia Auten, of Chattanooga, Dr. Brian Anderson, of Memphis, David Anderson and Dr. Chris Anderson, both of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Andy and Sally Newman, of Chattanooga, Catharine and Hannah Harris, of Ooltewah, Katie, Caroline and Parker Smith, of Cleveland, Maggie, Jennie and Landie McBrayer, of Chattanooga and James Sumrell, of Signal Mountain; sister, Ingrid Peterson of Viborg, S.D.; and her loving care-givers, Sue Buckner, Jennifer Berry, Lynn Strickland, Wilma Stansberry and Liz Pitman.
Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at First Christian Church, 600 McCallie Ave., with the Rev. Paul Rebelo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Friday prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery following the service.
