Alexander Lewis, a negro laborer, died suddenly of heart failure at 3 o'clock yesterday morning at the family residence, East Mason street. Lewis had not been ill and was at work Thursday. A physician was summoned but death preceded the medical man's arrival. The coroner then was summoned. He held an inquest yesterday afternoon at which a verdict of death from natural causes was returned. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the family residence and at St. Paul's A.M.E. church. Lewis was 57 years, 9 months and 23 days old. He is survived by his wife, Stella Lewis; and three daughters, Hattie Lewis of this city, Stella Lewis of St. Louis and Gladys Lewis of Springfield.
